Jeff Peterson writes, "These pictures come with a great story. On the 13th of March, I was shed hunting with my Dad and brother. As I came off a certain snowy ridge and peered through the scrub oak and cedars below me, I noticed a big 6x7 bull elk laying at the base of a patch of scrub and a juniper. He had not yet shed his head gear so I tried to back away without spooking him. Fortunately, I stepped on a stick and the sound of it snapping sent the bull elk exploding out of his bed, through the stand of trees and lit hard on his front legs on the other side. To my great surprise, both antlers fell off into the snow! What a great "once in a lifetime" experience. We found 3 other freshly shed horns on the same day."
