James writes, "All and all it was one of the best years our group has ever had in California while hunting in one of the X zones. I shot this deer (top left) with my new 7mm-08 at around 150 yards. In the same area our party had shot four dandy bucks. My buck was running with three does and a large bull horn spike.
The first buck taken was Jim's (top right). He shot the deer right at dusk. It took him and a buddy of his about two hours to pack the deer out. Gene (bottom left) and my brother-in-law (bottom right) took their bucks within a mile of each other.
