"Rick's B.C. Muley"
Photo provided by: Rick Neuwirth

Rick Neuwirth sent this photo of his first mule deer. He took the buck in November 2002.
Rick writes, "I live in Gibsons B.C. and have harvested many nice blacktail on the coast here, but have always wanted to chase the big deer up north. So, my dad and I decided to go on a combination muley and whitetail trip this past year up at Adams Lake, B.C.. We had never hunted the area so were doing a lot of scouting the first day when I came across more sign and rubs than I've ever seen before. We decided this was the spot for our first day of serious hunting.
We arrived at daybreak the next morning and decided to split up to cover more ground. To be honest with you, I thought we were in whitetail
country, and with it being the first weekend of November, I would try rattling.
I put some doe scent out, got in my climbing tree stand and proceeded to rattle. I gave a couple of grunts with my call and waited. Within 20 minutes this bad boy walked within 80 yards of my stand and stopped and stared in my direction. Talk about a gift, I never thought rattling would entice a mule deer! I dont think I'll try it as normal practice, but what a rush and what an animal. I can't wait until this season!"
