This fine Idaho bull elk was harvested on a horseback hunt in the Gospel Hump Wilderness in October 2008. Blake Kavalok and his 77 year old father, Tony Kavalok SR. spotted the bull over 2 miles away at first light. After a rigorous 2 hour stalk they were within 175 yards and the bull was taken down with a 180 grain Nosler Partition from Blake's Winchester Model 70 300 Mag. Tony Kavalok Sr. is shown here with the elk, proud to still be hunting up in this great wilderness. (The elk was shot 2 days before Tony's 78th birthday, what a way to celebrate)
