Troy Peterson writes, "I generally spend my time deer hunting around my home in central Utah. I made several spotting trips this summer without seeing any good bucks. As usual the opening day was total chaos in the area with 24 trucks parked in the same location. Because of this opening weekend pressure, I always save a couple of vacation days towards the end of the hunt. This theory has worked well for me on several occasions and this year was no different. I hiked into my hunting area early on Thursday morning and was completely alone that day. I started seeing deer right at first light and within a few minutes this buck fed over the ridge towards me. After watching him for a few minutes, I knew that I hadn’t seen anything even close to this size all year, so I better not pass the chance. Within a matter of minutes I was standing next to him and enjoying the beautiful fall morning."
