The Wyoming archery hunt was good to Matt Asay once again, as he was able to sneak in and arrow this fine buck.
Matt writes, "I watched this buck grow all summer and as I did my excitement grew, I called him "two hands" for obvious reasons. I was hoping to get him in velvet, but a freak hail storm got him rubbing early and when I found him again he was slicked off completely. I sat and watched him for hours grazing in the wide open sage brush flats. I started wondering if he would ever head for his bed. About an hour before sunset he started toward his comfort zone and I knew this was my last chance at him. He pushed some does and smaller bucks up the trail like a good matriarch does and as they got closer my heart got faster. At 38 yards I made the mistake of moving my foot which had been a sleep for quite some time now, and snapped a twig; off they all went wheezing and blowing. A few does stayed close by and decided it was safe to stay and graze and that brought old "Two Hands" back to me. This time I was ready, at 42 yards I let it fly and heard that sound of the arrow passing through and knew I had him. Such a fun experience and adrenaline rush, couldn't ask for a better year for muleys."
