"Colorado Twins"
Photo provided by: Russell Gartner

Russell writes, "This year was good for the flatlanders from Michigan! Compliments to the local "probe" Russell Gartner of Durango, CO. The Colorado Twins were scouted and taken the last day of the 2nd Mule Deer season in the beautiful southern Rocky Mountains. The weather was warm and animals were very uncooperative throughout the week long hunt. Both hunters, excessively tired from hauling out nearly 600 pounds of the 2nd Gartner Bull Elk to fall for the season (separate picture) The harvest of the Twins occurred within 15 yards of each other and only 3 hours apart! The first shot was at 205 yards with a .308 winchester around 2pm by Paul Violassi (pictured right) that laid to rest a 5x7 mule deer with a spread of 26 inches.

The second shot reached out from a 30-06 to touch the twin buck for the 2nd entry to the record books at 215 yards. Mark Oakes, (pictured left) holds his 35 inch 8x8 mule deer with pride."

Congratulations guys!
