Tony writes, "This was my second backpacking trip of the two week season in northern California. I had passed on several smaller bucks earlier in the week. I spotted this buck at approx. 1500 yards feeding with two other bucks. My buddy, Andy, and I made the move to get into position. We set up at 575 yards away and waited. All three bucks moved toward our direction while feeding. Once the buck got to 305 yards it turned broadside and waited for the other 2 bucks to catch up. I took the shot. I did not know really how big he was until I got to him. I was shocked. This was my first mule deer buck and first time hunting mule deer. It is a 4x3 that measures 24" tall and 30" wide from outside tip to outside tip and was taken on public land."
