"Archery Success for Three Buddies"
Photo provided by: Keith Ward

Keith Ward, of Northwest Kansas, writes, "These are photos of 3 Kansas archery killed mule deer. All three of us are leftys and all three bucks were killed within 30 yards with 3 Bowtechs!

The hunts began the day after I finished harvesting corn on October 18th. Brock McChesney, my longtime friend, just returned from serving four years in the USMC. Needless to say he was eager to make up for lost time in the field. We watched as the buck bedded down, stalked within a heart pounding 23 yards and waited for him to stand for the perfect shot. The second buck was mine as we had to wait for 4 hours for the right conditions. After what seemed to be and eternity we moved in to 35 yards just in time to have the doe parade him by for a 25 yard chip shot, but a shaky one at that! Third was a great stalk along and through fireweeds and standing timber until Rick was at a comfortable 30 yards. The first two bucks were killed in the same week, while Rick's buck was harvested 10 days later. They aren't the biggest bucks around, but the stalks were unbelievable and it's hard to pass on deer like that inside of 30 yards. Nothing beats archery hunting on the ground. Oh yea, all three bucks were harvested by left handed Bowtechs!"
