Auston Butt writes, "We had seen my deer 5 months ago while he was still in velvet. Because my wife and I just had our first child, I was unable to make the opener of deer season. My grandfather spotted the big mule deer on opening day, but on un-huntable property. When I was finally able to make the trip down two weeks later, we found the big guy again in the exact spot we first saw him 5 months prior. I was able to intercept this buck as his does fed along a stubble field. He has 23 scorable points and scores 193-4/8.
The next day, my grandfather took a massive whitetail. The night before we had got freezing rain and the buck's entire body and horns were covered with thick ice. His buck scored 143 with almost 40 inches of mass. It was a great surprise to what I thought was going to be just an average season."
