Jonathan Ballew writes, "I have finished my hunting season on a high note. After a long and exhausting elk hunt with many close calls, but no elk on the ground, I was forced to head back home with only tag soup for dinner. Having only this weekend to hunt on my Colorado deer tag (my lovely sister is getting married the last weekend of the hunt), I had high hopes of filling my tag on a bruiser this weekend. After spotting this buck bedded, although he wasn't the 30 inch buck I had been chasing and hoped to shoot, I couldn't pass on him, with 18 points who could? He has so much character and is just a neat looking buck. I connected my first shot at 60 yards which blew through both front shoulders after he stood up to see what was approaching his location. He stumbled off about 20 yards and bedded again. That's when my cousin, Cody, and I snuck in for the kill shot at 20 yards. What a great end to an excellent season."
