"Doug's Oregon Bull"
Photo provided by: Doug Hallam

Doug Hallam writes, "Here are some pictures of my first branch-antler bull taken in Nov, 2004 in Eastern Oregon (Grant County).
On the 3rd day of the season, I started the morning hunting down a deep, steep draw. I was nearing the creek bottom and had just cleared some rim rock when I heard something above me. I looked up and saw the bull above the rim rock walking right to left at ~100 yards through the trees. There was only one small opening ahead and I was praying that he would remain on course and not speed up. My prayers were answered - he walked into the opening and gave me a nice broadside, slow walking shot with my .300 Win Mag. He came down the hill towards me and crashed into a fallen log and expired quickly. My hunting partners managed to get a Quad to me after about 2 hours of trying. It was a real steep spot with lots of windfall.
After cutting him in half, we managed to get him out without rolling the Quad or hurting anyone in the process.
The bull is 6x6 and Gross scores: 252 4/8

Special thanks to my hunting partners, Rich, Mike, Tom, Ron, Nick and Steve
for all their help in making this a memorable hunt.
