Freddie writes, "It all started the day I found out I had been drawn for an Arizona Limited Opportunity Any Elk Tag for the 2006 season. This is the first elk tag I'd drawn since I was 13,and now I am 27. I had not harvested an elk at age 13 so to say I was excited is an understatment. Elk invaded my dreams almost every night until opening morning arrived. Finally the season opened and the elk were bugling all around our camp. My hunting buddy Joey, and I jumped elk first thing in the morning and we chased elk up till lunch. We headed out for the evening hunt about eight miles from camp and walk into several bulls bugling. We were standing on top of a ridge and about three hundred yards away I glassed up a nice bull elk. I put the crosshairs behind his front shoulder and squeezed the trigger. I knew I had hit him good. When Joey and I walked up and finally got to see my bull my legs got weak. I could not believe I had tagged such an impressive bull on opening day for my first elk."
