"Heavy Texas Whitetail for Jean"
Photo provided by: Jean Schladoer

Jean Schladoer writes, "I was hunting on a friends property in the Panhandle of Texas on December 1st when I harvested this monster. At 8am, I had been watching a doe eat under the feeder and the side of the sandhills and saw movement about 100 yards away. I could only see the head of a buck and when I looked through my binoculars. I could see he was high and heavy. He started walking to the left and walked into an opening on a road. He stopped walking as I put my crosshairs on him and pulled the trigger. The buck never moved, just stood there looking around. I was able to reload and aim again. When I pulled the trigger this time, I knew it was a good shot as he did the heart shot kick and ran out of sight. When I went to find him, there was blood everywhere. He was laying only about 5 yards from the road and only ran about 50 yards from where he was shot. When I lifted his head, I couldn't believe how large it was! There was no ground shrinkage! His dog catchers are 10 inches long and 5-1/2 inches at the base of them. This buck had never been captured on camera."
