"Houndawg's New Mexico Bear"
Photo provided by: Tom Anderson

Tom writes, "This bear was harvested by Houndawg in New Mexico. We were a little worried about how the hunt would go because in Arizona our dogs were getting outrun on a regular basis. We hit the weather, acorns and found 5 bears that would tree all in a weeks hunt. This was the largest bear we treed. He was tagged by the NM Game Department as a cub in 1996. This 5 year old boar was over 300 pounds and hadn't started on his winter fat storage yet.
The chase went through 3 canyons and he treed on the steepest, nastiest hillside he could find. We let the dogs tree and called for the rest of our
party to come in and see him. Houndawgs wife really wanted a bear rug and this one seemed like it might fit her decor so he harvested it. The dogs are a combo pack of Houndawgs and Edhunters.
