"48-Inch Moose for Jody"
Photo provided by: Jody

Jody writes, "I just got back from my moose hunt. He weighed 756 lbs. and has a 48-inch spread. I shot him at 7:30 in the morning about a mile and a half from the road in a huge cut and it took us until 6:30 pm to finally get him all out. We tried for a while to get him out whole, but soon realized that we needed to quarter him up if we were ever going to get out of there. In Maine, if you are going to quarter an animal you have to bring out all quarters with the hooves on, the rib cage, neck and head. (I personally think that they need to change that law) This weight was the total of all the pieces and quarters that we brought out. The biologist at the weigh station said that we had probably lost some of the total weight by doing it this way. Overall a great hunt with great friends. I hope to draw this tag again some day."
