"Texas Bucks"
Photo provided by: Chris McGuire

Chris McGuire writes, "My neighbor, Chris Switzer, took my brothers and I hunting on his father-in-laws ranch in Georgetown, Texas on Thanksgiving morning to try and take some turkey’s as well as a shot at a big Texas hill country buck. It was a perfect day to hunt, a cold front had come through and the rut was in full swing. I had stayed up entirely too late the night before enjoying some Colorado kool aid with my com padres. By about 7:50am, I found myself dosing off and next thing I know I am passed out in my blind. When I awoke around 8:45am, I looked around to see if anything was moving and bam there he was. The mature buck was chasing a doe that I had spooked when my gun made some movement when I stretched. Quickly, I grabbed my .223 outfitted with a wide angle Leupold scope and BOOM! To my surprise he dropped, a clean 145 yard heart shot. I will tell you what, I have never had buck fever that bad in my life and I now know why I LOVE hunting. My neighbor, Switzer (2nd photo), took his buck a week before me on the same ranch. He had never shot a deer in his life and hit his buck on the run at 185 yards. He also broke my 30-06 in that I had never shot an animal with. He is now a full blown deer hunter."

Pictured at the bottom are the boys with some Turkey's from the same property.
