Derrek Kohli writes, "It was my very first year putting in for this tag and sure enough luck was on my side...I drew out for the Bastian Ranch unit up by Causey reservoir. The country up there is absolutely beautiful and hunting was incredible. For anyone looking for a moose hunt, I recomend putting in for that unit. The land owners are awesome and more than helpful. As for the hunt, we drove up friday night and set up camp. With not much light left, we decided to go glass a few water holes...no luck. We headed back to camp to prepare for the morning. Me and my father hiked about 2 hours over many ridges to get to a spot that looked hopeful. About 8:30am we kicked up this bull moose about 30 yards away. I pounded him with a 7mm STW and he fell where he stood. It was one of the greatest times of my life and I was very proud to share the moment with my father, Kris, best friend, Bryant, and Roger. My bull moose measured up to be 45 inches wide and 9x9. It looks good hanging on the wall!"
