Robert Lester writes, "During most antelope "goat" hunts, we don’t normally
tag out. However, this year Montana received a record amount of moisture, so we were pretty excited. My father (Scott), his hunting partner (Mike), my hunting partner (Troy), and myself left for goat country with a total of eight tags. Troy and I both had an additional two doe/fawn tags.

Thirty minutes into the hunt I bagged a nice doe.
Then my partner got a nice doe. Two down and five to go! That afternoon, Mike bagged a nice buck. Ten minutes later, Troy bagged a nice buck. This was his very first buck! That night, my dad got a decent buck.
WOW! And to top it off this was all through hiking the prairie. No vehicle use. Not one of us was near each other during this time. Approximately 1-2 mile away from each hunting member.

The next day, I started off chasing a nice buck
throughout the country. After realizing I would never cut him off, I took a nice nap...which is the secret!
After I woke up, I began to see if I could put the
sneak on some goats. While doing so, I spotted a buck standing in the tall grass in front of me
approximately 300 yards away. I dropped him and as
soon as I had shot, a whole herd of does stood up. I then picked out a nice doe and dropped her. I had tagged out for the first time!

The entire hunting party harvested a total of four
bucks and three does. Troy didn't go after his last doe since he didn't think he had enough room in his freezer. This was by far the best hunt we had ever been on. This all took place on Block Management land in south central Montana.

These bucks are not trophies...per the book. However, after all the hard work, I would argue with anyone that a true trophy is in the eye of the beholder."
