Fred Lamphere writes, "This is my South Dakota antelope. 15-3/4 horns---79 5/8 B&C. Shot in Harding County on public land. After two failed stalks on a private ranch that I had permission to hunt on, this buck and over forty other antelope traveled across a fence into a walk-in area. (LAND LEASED BY THE STATE GAME, FISH & PARKS FOR PUBLIC HUNTING)
I stalKed within 200 yards and they spooked again, luck was on my side. The herd wasn't sure what I was and came back to investigate. A couple of does were leading the bunch and when they got around 150 yards they stopped. This buck was the largest in the herd and he came to front to check me out. My 25-06 did the job. I had to drag/carry this big buck 3/4 mile back out of the WALK-IN area, it was worth the work. I am a firm believer that if you are willing to work a little harder there are alot of great public hunting opportunities in the western states."
