"Beating The Odds -- Bryan's Antelope"
Photo provided by: Bryan Routt

Bryan writes, "This was my first antelope hunt and it all started in June when I found out that I drew a tag. My chances of drawing this tag was 1/8 of a precent, because I had never put in for the tag and I just started hunting about two years ago. Luck was on my side!
The area was new to me and I had never hunted antelope before. I tried spot and stalk for two days with no luck, then late on my 2nd day of hunting I found a waterhole with lots of trails coming into it. So, the next day I was in a blind 400 yards from the hole at daybreak.
There were already antelope watering, but all the bucks acted like they winded me and hung up at about 800 yards, then they spooked.
About 30 minutes later, I was glassing the ridgeline when I saw him. He began coming down and 2 1/2 hours later I shot him. He is 14 1/2" tall.
