"Amber's 16-Inch Wyoming Goat"
Photo provided by: Wade Hanks

Wade Hanks writes, "Here is a photo of my wife, Amber Hanks, and our daughter, Brylee (age 3). We were hunting in Western Wyoming in 2003. We had seen a number of good bucks, but nothing great. First thing that morning we saw about a 15 incher, but he wasn't very pretty. After three or four hours, Amber was wanting to go back and get him. I finally gave into her begging and returned to the ridge where we'd seen the best buck. We crested the ridge and there, about 500 yards or more, was this buck. She was able to recognize the size difference immediately. The stalk was on. To make a long story short, we followed him for over two miles waiting for him to present an ethical shot. He was all alone and traveling from small herd to small herd. He was getting run out of the area by each buck he encountered. Roughly three hours later, Amber made a perfect shot at 200 yards to end the stalk. I had been carrying Brylee the entire way and was relieved to harvest the giant. We (I) had under guessed the buck and was pleasantly surprised at his size. Each horn was exactly 16 inches and had the mass to go with it. The ending got even better as I was able to drive the truck 2.2 miles to the kill site. She is a very selective hunter and only desires to harvest one trophy of each species. I guess we're done antelope hunting. He officially scored 80 and some change."

Congratulations Amber!
