"Van's Amazing Discovery"
Photo provided by: Van Clark

Van Clark, of Prescott Valley, Arizona enjoys spending a couple weeks each spring near the north rim of the Grand Canyon looking for shed antlers. In June of this year Van stumbled upon this big rack hanging in a tree. To Van's surprise, the antlers had a metal, Arizona Fish & Game tag attached to it. The date on the tag was 1953. Van writes, "Almost forty seven years ago someone placed it there and I was the first one to come accross it. Who knows why they left it there. Alot of maybe's come to mind but we will never know. The Game and Fish Dept. does not have records that date back that far and they were as surprised as everyone else to know that a skull and antlers will last that long in the wild.
I am happy that I found this part of Arizona hunting history and wish to share a picture I took of the skull before removing it from the tree.

It's amazing that they lasted so long. Thanks for sharing the photo Van.
