It was opening weekend of the rifle hunt in southwest Oregon when Matt Jaeger took this fine buck.
Matt writes, "It was rainy and cool. Perfect for our deer here. I walked around until 9:00 am when the sun began to hit the spot I hunt. As the sun warmed the area, the place crawled with deer. I did not have time to hide. I just sat very still on a stump, out in the open. A large group of does and fawns feed towards me, when I saw a small forkie. I passed on him because it was opening weekend. Suddenly, this big guy showed himself. One shot from the old trusty 270 and then tender loins for dinner."
