Cody writes, "It was on the first day of the hunt around noon, our hunting party had been out all morning and had seen a few bucks, a couple of the guys had shots but no bucks were taken. My long time friend and hunting partner, Gary McKinelly and I had just gotten back to our four-wheelers and were putting things away getting ready for the ride back to camp when I looked up on the ridge and seen this monster coming at us. I told Gary that the buck was coming and at first he thought that I was joking, but when he saw me throw the top of my gun case across the road he looked up and saw him. It was a race to get off a shot and thanks to Gary's scope cover, I won. The buck was at 129 yards and had seen us, he turned and was going back up the hill when I shot, the smoke cleared and he went about 10 yards then went down. When we got to him we were shocked by the mass, it was one of the heaviest bucks I had ever seen. He is 30 inches and had 4 points on the left side with two eye guards and 3 points and an eye guard on the right. A rough score was done on the buck and it came out in the 190s."
