"A Fun Father/Son Texas Deer Hunt"
Photo provided by: Robert Haley

Robert Haley writes, "My dad, Charles Haley, and I usually spend the weekend after Thanksgiving hunting mule deer out on a west Texas ranch near Fort Stockton, but we had to postpone until Dec. 8th because I was going to the A&M – U.T. football game.
That morning, the temperature fell to 6 degrees, the coldest we’ve ever hunted out there. This was the first buck I saw and the biggest of the trip. I shot him early in the morning and later that day my dad got 11 quail. The next day my dad shot a whitetail buck and I got 10 quail and a javelina.
The last photo is a buck my dad shot over 25 years ago. It was too hot for him to get it to a taxidermist, so he just sawed off the skull plate. This past summer, I was able to get a cape and mounted it for him."
