"Trev's Big Utah Archery Buck"
Photo provided by: Trev Smith

Trev Smith writes, "I got lucky with this nice looking Utah buck in 2008. The first two weeks of the hunt I was working out of state. So, when I got home and finished my honey do's, I was eager to hunt. A friend told me about a good buck he had seen not far from town, so on a Tuesday night I grabbed my bow and binos and went out with hopes of glassing the buck. As luck would have it, I glassed him bedded (this never happens to me) and after a long run down a wash I got into possition and right before dark he fed to 15 yards of me. My X-Force sent a 2" rocket through both shoulders and the beauty dropped right in front of me. Total mule deer hunting time in Utah for '08...about 2 hours. Left house at 6:30 pm had buck at the taxidermist by 10:30. This almost makes up for the 40 days I spent in the woods in two diffrent states the year before not getting anything. I guess you get lucky once in awhile.

The netting in his antlers may have come from re-seeding products on a nearby burn. It had been there for quite awhile because his antlers had grown into it causing rings in the velvet."
