"David's 253 Gross Colorado Buck"
Photo provided by: David Bodine

David Bodine writes, "I killed this deer opening morning of the 2006 hunt in Colorado. The weather was a little rainy. I saw this deer at 1/2 mile away and was able to close the distance. At about 100 yards out I removed my rain coat and pack, and I was able to close the distance to 45 yards. At that time, I had to make the decision of trying to stand the buck up and taking the shot or moving down the hill and shooting him in the bed. I decided to move, and get into position down the hill a few yards. I guessed the yardage at 45 and let the arrow fly. WHACK!!! It was a perfect hit, he ran over the hill with the arrow sticking out of his lungs. Shortly thereafter I was standing over the largest deer I have ever seen. It gross scored 253 & netted 243. It is currently the #3 archery velvet non-typical."
