Jason Downer's Aunt Bonnie, while on her way to church, spotted this beautiful buck crossing the road. Knowing that her nephew, Jason, would love to harvest such a fine animal, she passed the info. on to him.
Soon after hearing the news, Jason was able to harvest the buck as he made his way out of the field back to his bedding area.
Jason writes, "I remember coming off the hill with a huge grin on my face after taking the largest buck I have ever seen. After reaching the farmhouse, trophy in tow, Aunt Bonnie (who always has the last word) looked at my prize and said "Oh, you got the little one. By the way you were carrying on, I thought you shot the elk deer (A mulie that they thought was an elk due to the non-typical rack)."
I laughed and said that it was a great first Mulie for me. I am truely hooked on mule deer hunting!"
Jason harvested his eastern Washington buck with his Springfield 30-06.
