David writes, "For the past three months my oldest son, Ben, and I have been counseling my youngest son, Matt, not to shoot the first deer he saw on his first deer hunt. Well, that went out the window when this bruiser appeared on the ridge 15 minutes into opening day of our Montana general season. One well placed shot at 300 yards and Matt had "reduced to possession" one of the finest mulies we've seen in this area. The outside spread measured right at 23 inches.
Pictured is Matt (on the left with the "I still don't believe it" grin and Ben, his "personal guide"). What a special thrill for me. As a footnote, it's been a tremendous season already...I was with Ben in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness when he took his first bull elk in September. Nothing big...4x5 satellite bull, but Boone & Crockett to him! I'm a fortunate man!"
