Fred Rathke's buddy, Ron, had never bagged a blacktail prior to 2002. One Thursday afternoon at work, Ron invited Fred, who has taken quite a few blacktail bucks, to accompany him and help harvest a buck.
Fred and Ron began the day early and walked into a remote high country meadow where a great opportunity presented itself.
After waiting an hour or so, Ron and Fred spotted this huge buck as he snuck from the heavy timber. Ron made a great shot with his bow to down his first blacktail.
