"Scott's Big Utah Bull"
Photo provided by: Scott Evans

Scott Evans writes, "After sitting in the same saddle for 3 hours and not seeing anything except turkeys, I finally heard the sound every elk hunter wants to hear, bugling and the crushing of trees. I moved about 50 yards down from where I was sitting to see three cows and a small bull. So, I decided that this would be my chance to see a decent bull. After watching four more bulls and about 40 cows came in below me, I finally saw the bull that was making all the disturbance. He came into view pushing three cows out of the clearing below me. He pushed the cows into the pines and followed them; I thought I missed my chance. However, he made the mistake of coming back to get the rest of his cows and paused long enough for me to put a 180 grain, 300 Win Magnum into his lungs at 138 yards. He walked about five steps and turned broadside and I put another shot into him. He walked about two more steps to fall over and take out a tree with him. It was without a doubt the most exciting hunting experience I've ever had. This was my first year hunting an Any Bull Unit and it goes to show there are still some decent bulls to be found in Utah."
