"Son's 1st Bull Elk - Well, after a hard hunt, my oldest son was able to fill his youth muzzleloader elk tag with a bull. The weather was hot, windy, full moon, and elk behavior definitely changed couple days before the opener and the bulls went silent like a light switch turned them off. It was getting close to the end and he said if he didn't get a bull today, he was going to try and fill the freezer with the first elk that gave him a chance tomorrow, the last day of the hunt. Luckily he took advantage of his opportunity to kill this bull this morning. He still had an opportunity at a beautiful, unbroken 6x6 for opening weekend but it was like that bull knew we had a muzzleloader and he kept teasing us just out of range that my son was comfortable shooting. It was a great time, challenging, and he is extremely happy with the unique bull he harvested. Now back to school and work!"
