Tom Russell writes, "My wife, Sarah, finally got her hunters safety card this year, so we could go out and hunt and she could actually shoot a deer. My kids kept telling me that mom was going to shoot a bigger deer than myself. Little did I know how right they were.
It was early October and we decided to run out to our honey hole outside our home town of Casper, Wyoming. I spotted two deer about 700 yards off and I could see head gear. So, we decided to put a stalk on. At 200 yards we couldn't get any closer so she aimed her 243 Savage and fired at the bigger buck...good hit. She worked another round in and fired again. The buck went down.
As we walked up to him I was in total shock at his size. A 23" 6x5 and he is so heavy. I couldn't have been more proud of her and yes, her deer was a lot bigger than mine."
