"Back From Iraq And Time To Go Hunting"
Photo provided by: Justin Russell

Just writes, "I returned from Iraq last year just in time to go on my dads hunt to New Mexico. My uncle, dad, and 2 friends had drawn from what we know the only NR tags. That hunt was incredible and then we headed to montana where we had all drawn combo hunts. After a long day of hunting the first day, I headed down the mountain. I saw a little spike stand up out of his bed and when I looked closer, there were 3 more deer. They all took off down a little hill so I ran up to get a look at them. There was a 4x4. 4x3. and 2 spikes. The 4x3 was heavier and wider so I put my cross hairs on him. He was behind a stump with only his head sticking out. I went for the head shot and downed him. After hunting with my dad and uncle for 2 days, the weather changed drastically. We went to the high country to see if we could find any bucks coming down. We got to the edge of a huge meadow and found what looked like a descent elk track. The elk was all by itself so I decided to follow. My uncle went with me and my dad continued up the ridge looking for more sign. Upon reaching the crest of the hill where you could see down the whole valley we found a bed. We then followed the tracks another 20 yds and another bed. We took a few more steps and looked down and the bull stood up out of his bed. A couple well placed shots and my tags were filled.

Congratulations Justin!
