Stan Alpaugh got a lot more than he expected out of the any elk unit he hunted in Idaho. He was hoping just to find any elk---something to fill the freezer.
He heard the cows calling back and forth, so he joined in and the herd began moving towards him. Stan was planing on harvesting the lead cow, but just as he settled his crosshairs on her, a bull let out a bugle that brought Stan to a quick halt. Stan was amazed that there was a bull in the herd. All he noticed was huge tines before shooting and he couldn't believe how big the bull was when he and his buddy approached the fallen trophy.
Not only did Stan put some meat in the freezer, but he now has a great set of antler's that he can admire for the rest of his life. The bull gross scores 363 7/8.
