Andy Stafford writes, "I'm a life long archery hunter although the bull in the picture was taken with a rifle due to me filling out this years Arizona application wrong. Not only was I disappointed when I found out I accidently got a Late Season hunt, doing more research I realized I got a RIFLE tag! I haven't shot a high powered rifle since 1992 when I took a whitetail doe with my .270.
The next morning I got busy researching outfitters. Calling and emailing 9 outfitters, I quickly limited it down to five. Then the decision got much harder. I asked questions about guns, shooting distance, terrain, expectations. I've hunted elk for 15 years, the past 12 on my own. I've shot two 6x6 bulls around 240"s and a 5x5. To make this short, one outfitter stood out, NO big promises, discussed gun size and ammo but the one thing he said when I told him I screwed up my application was "It's a tuff hunt I'm not going to kid you, but there are hundreds of hunters out there that wish they had drawn your tag." I knew then I had found the right outfitter.
A lot of practice on the range after purchasing my Tikka 300WSM paid off as I shot this 370 bull at 696 yards facing me on the 5th night of a 7 day hunt. I kept thinking as the time kept getting closer to my hunt that I should/could just do this on my own even though I live 19 hours away in Kansas. I'll finish by saying there is NO WAY I could have gotten a bull like this or probably even had seen a decent bull without the help from High Point Outfitters. Kevin and Blake Call are just good quality people that will work their tail off for you. I could go on and on.....!!!"
Andy also found a great set of sheds while hunting.
