Just before departing to Afghanistan, Tyler Boschma was able to do a little hunting during the last week of August in Alaska.

Tyler writes, "I did a solo DIY sheep hunt and was able to bring this beautiful animal home. It only took a few nights sleeping in a bivy sack and a tarp over my head in pouring rain. I was able to get this ram on day 4 of a 10 day hunt. After a short 9 mile pack back to the airstrip with a 130 lb. load, I was headed home and onto Afghanistan! I never believed that I would get to hunt Alaska DIY, but I can honestly say that without the military I would have never had the opportunities that I have had. Now I can't wait to get back to my home state of Idaho and do some elk hunting!"
