Mike Burnside shared with us this neat hunting adventure that he and many great volunteers had taking Mike's daughter, Kenzi, deer hunting in Wyoming.
Mike writes, "On a cold & windy day in Wyoming, my daughter Kenzi accomplished something she had dreamed of over a year ago; she harvested her first mule deer! She had asked to go on this hunt, provided by Holy Pursuits Dream Foundation, at the end of last summer. Timing, however, didn't make the hunt possible for last fall but it happened this fall. The past 3 days found us outside Cheyenne, WY, on the hunt with the Muley Fantatic Foundation Southeast Wyoming Chapter assisting with logistics, transportation, and all aspects of the hunt. There are too many individuals to name, but there was an entire group helping us on this hunt. A hunter would be hard pressed to find 2 better organizations to support.
Kenzi has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair, having multiple hip surgeries on each hip, rods placed along both sides of her spine, and spinal surgery and other surgeries; she requires stretching and movement several times a day. Between weather, windy conditions (up to 50 mph), and logistics of getting her into position for a shot, many factors made odds of success difficult.
But on the 3rd and final afternoon of her hunt, she found success; deciding she wanted to take this buck, we took 20 minutes to get into position & she used a vacuum air actuator to fire the rifle. People gave their time, resources, & money to help her be successful, giving her the opportunity to #fillthefreezer as she says in physically helping provide for the family.
On a cold and windy Wyoming day, people came together to help a young lady accomplish a dream she could not do alone."
